Half Banana Cream/Coconut Cream pie

One of my housemates wants banana cream pie and the other one loves coconut. So I used one shell and made one half of it banana cream pie and the other half coconut cream pie! So everyone wins! Also, most recipes have a whipped topping, but I personally don't like it very much because it just tastes like fat to me, which is essentially what it is! You can add it, but what I really like is the custard! NOW ITS A LOW CAL PIE! LOL. No.

Recipe:
1.5 cup milk
2.5 tablespoons cornstarch
2 bananas
2 tsp vanilla paste
5 egg yolks
pinch of salt
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
pre-made graham cracker pie crust ( I used oreo because my housemates picked it out)

Step 1: Mix egg yolks, corn starch, and sugar together. Then scald the milk in a pot! Slowly temper the egg mixture until it becomes hot to the touch!

Step 2: Add the mixture back into the pot and let it cook until the custard thickens!! Then pour it onto another bowl and add the vanilla paste!

Step 3: Split the custard in half! Put the shredded coconut flakes in one half then put a plastic wrap ONTO both custards so a skin doesn't form. AINT NOBODY GOT TIME TO PUT IT IN THE FRIDGE FOR 5 HRS SO STICK IT IN THE FREEZER FOR 1 HOUR!

STEP 4: In the meantime, prep your bananas by slicing it and drizzle a little caramel on it if ya feel like getting diabetes together. But hey, we're omitting the whipped cream so its evened out :3

Step 5: Assembly time!! Just dump your banana mixture on half of the pie crust, put the custard on top, maybe let it chill for a little bit more if you have the patience, and you're done!!
